Über 1500 Dollar für Daptone gespendet

Es war eine Initiative aus der Nachbarschaft Daptones in New York: SaveDaptone. Man solle doch Daptone Records nach dem Einbruch in die Studios unter die Arme greifen und einen Drink ausgeben. Dazu sollte man 4 Dollar via Paypal auf ein Konto überweisen, um die weitere Arbeit des Daptone Studios zu gewährleisten. Denn die Nachricht hatte die gesamte Soul-Gemeinde geschockt und die Befürchtung „Nie mehr Daptone“ lag in der Luft.

So schlimm war es doch nicht. Wie Daptone verlautete, halten sich die Schäden in Grenzen und man wolle kein Geld annehmen, obwohl das gestohlene Vintage-Equipment doch recht wertvoll war und alles nicht versichert.

Auf jeden Fall haben 375 Fans vier Dollar oder mehr gespendet, wie SaveDaptone gerade eben in einem Newsletter verkündete:

We’re going to be closing the SaveDaptone tab very soon – after a few weeks
of „drinking,“ it’s time to turn the lights on and head home (or to your
local record store…). If you were so kind as to put up a button, please
take a minute to take it down. We’d don’t want to have to refund someone
FOUR dollars after we’ve closed donations… I’m sure you can imagine – it
would make us feel pretty silly.

Our neighborhood bought 375.055 drinks. ! (do the math, it’s pretty cool)

You’ll receive 1-2 emails to tell you where your money went and how it got
there, and SaveDaptone will be updated with all the details. Tell your
friends and neighbors, whether they bought Daptone a drink, a ticket to a
show, a tshirt, a 45, or even if they’re just generally good friends and
